Wd unlocker my passport

It will help us determine the health and SMART data status of the HDD. I'm truly sorry to hear about your WD My Passport causing you such troubles! I'd strongly recommend you to try testing the external using WD's Data LifeGuard, though. I understand it was irresponsible for me to keep them on an external HD (or so other forums have rudely told me) but I wasn't expecting a hard drive failure, no one really does. Those pics and videos are all I really care about if anyone can please help It has all of my music, movies, game back-ups and pictures and videos of my time in Iraq and Afghanistan. I was going to try to plug it into my mobo and do it that way until I realized that WD doesn't use a SATA bridge. If anyone knows any way of even just recovering the data I can buy a new drive. I downloaded and installed Recuva and I'm unable to pull any files but it does say that the folders and files are still there. The built-in Microsoft disk management tools do the same. I tried IOBit Unlocker and it freezes and goes unresponsive once I select the drive. It doesn't give any errors or any info just sits there unresponsive.

If I run chkdsk /r on the E:/ drive it wont do anything. I have tried researching on here and several different forums but to no avail. I have tried USB 3.0 and 2.0, swapping cables, tested on separate PCs and still get the same thing. As the title says it locks up my PC every time I plug it in.
